AHA Spurns LGBT, Labor Activists in San Diego, Proceeds with their Meeting at the Manchester Hyatt
On January 5th, the American Historical Association (AHA) announced that it would not honor the boycott of the Manchester Hyatt and would go ahead as planned with their 2010 meeting at the hotel. The boycott was called by a group called Californians Against Hate and UNITE HERE Local 30 when it was discovered that the owner of the hotel, Douglas Manchester, had donated $125,000 to a political committee supporting Proposition 8, a November ballot initiative in California that sought to make it illegal for gay and lesbian couples to marry. The measure passed on Election Day.MORE >

Rocawear, a global lifestyle brand co-founded by Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, held its semi-annual sales and presentation conference February 13-17, 2009. Previously, Rocawear had been showing its product at the men's fashion tradeshow MAGIC, but this year Rocawear wanted to provide its buyers a private, luxurious meeting.MORE >
